STRASBOURG – THE SEAT OF EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Invited by Mr. Štefanec, the Slovak member of the European Parliament, we visited the city of Strasbourg – the seat of European Council and European Parliament - in the days of 10th – 13th September 2017.
Full of enthusiasm and expectations we took the night bus in Bratislava. After twelve hours of journey, we finally saw the features of this East-French city - also called the city of two nations.
The programme of this stay started with the sailing along the river Rhine. Sailing through the river corners we could see a wonderful German architecture visible all around the river. The most beautiful adventure was the moment we caught the sight of Notre-Dame Cathedral – the pride of Strasbourg with monumental gothic architecture.
Later, we moved to the local restaurant to taste typical “Flammkuchen,” which is Flemish cuisine and we all enjoyed this meal.
Next day, we absolved the visit of local par Orangerie – a home of the tenths of storks symbolizing the city. After the arrival into the European Parliament we were able to see an interesting presentation about functioning and organization of EU.
After lunch we visited the lecture of our host, Mr.Štefanec, which was joined with discussion.
Our visit was ended by visitation of council hall. Then we again travelled for 12 hours and without complications finally reached Bratislava. We want to thank Mr. Štefanec but also our Mrs. Teacher Mgr. Miroslava Jamirchová, who accompanied and instructed us during this stay, for these wonderful experiences and adventures. Thank you very much!
